Jennifer Love Hewitt rang in her 31st birthday with a scavenger hunt for her mom and friends Sunday, but boyfriend Jamie Kennedy was nowhere to be found.
The birthday girl, rocking a Lady Gaga-esque hair bow and pink tutu, was on Team ’80s and went from West Hollywood to Santa Monica in search of clues.
But all we wanna know is where was her man?
“I didn’t even hear his name mentioned,” a source tells E! News. “I don’t know why…maybe he was out of town.”
Reps for Love and Kennedy didn’t respond to our requests for comment, but sounds like Jen had a blast without him.
“They went all over town collecting items, taking pictures and figuring out clues,” the source tells us of the bash, which was thrown by Cal Iseminger of Cal’s Game Night Productions. “There were prizes, and it was a lot of fun.”
The hunt ended at Electric Karma restaurant on Third Street, where she blew out her candles.
Ironically, Jen and Jamie hit the same Indian restaurant together in August and didn’t hide their affection during their dinner at that time.
“They were both on the same side of the table, and she was lying on top of him and kissing his neck,” an insider tells E! News of their previous visit. “It was quite a scene.”

When Ghost Whisperer started in 2005, not everybody gave it much of a chance: A show about ghosts anchored by Jennifer Love Hewitt, eight years after I Know What You Did Last Summer, seemed like a gamble. Hewitt is a famous beauty, but (Supernatural aside) guys aren’t supposed to watch ghost shows–could she really bring in the numbers?

Turns out she can, backed up by inventive writing and production and an impressive cast including David Conrad and well-known names like Jaime Kennedy and Camryn Manheim. Even on Friday night, the killing field for dozens of sci-fi shows from the original Star Trek on down, a night that Syfy has managed to make any kind of television destination only through relentless diligence and the rise of DVR technology, Ghost Whisperer has been pulling in steady, solid numbers for CBS.

On Friday, March 5, Ghost Whisperer will air its 100th episode, and the occasion was marked by having Hewitt, one of the show’s executive producers and a Saturn Award winner for Best Actress, return to the director’s chair. In a genre where quality sometimes gets short shrift and shows can be canceled after only 9 days, it’s always fantastic to see a series build a fan base and survive for the long haul. JENNIFER Love Hewitt insists she and boyfriend Jamie Kennedy are in no hurry to get married.

The Ghost Whisperer actress — who has been dating Kennedy, 39, since the beginning of last year — says the couple are “not rushing” an engagement.

In June last year, Jennifer sparked rumors that she wanted to get engaged when she said in a radio interview, “If by this time next year, we’re not planning something, then there’s a situation.”

In a new interview, JLH set the record straight on her comments.

“The engagement thing was blown out of all proportion,” said the kinky actress. “When I made that comment about there being a ’situation’, I wasn’t really giving him a time clock.

“If it’s going to happen, it will happen, but right now we are not rushing anything. We are both just really happy.”

It’s the story about young Virginia O’Hanlon, the girl who inspired a crusty newspaper editor to write, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!” in response to the girl’s curious skepticism about Santa’s existence. (I can only imagine how an editor today might respond.) Oh, and the special is animated. Neil Patrick Harris plays the voice of Virginia’s father while Jennifer Love Hewitt is the voice of Virginia’s mother.
